Former England international Darren Bent has been released by Aston Villa alongside defender Enda Stephens.

Bent joined Villa for a club record £18m in 2011 but fell out of favour under Paul Lambert, and was shipped out on loan to Fulham, Brighton and Derby County.

Reports this morning suggest new Derby boss Paul Clement will make the striker his first permanent signing at Pride Park.

Arsenal duo Abou Diaby and Ryo Miyachi have both not had their contracts ruined by the Premier League club.

Frenchman Diaby has only played in the Premier League once in the last two years due to injury, whilst Miyachi has been farmed out on loan repeatedly, where he has also struggled for fitness.

Liverpool FC announce released players ahead of 2015-16 season

Liverpool FC have confirmed the summer departures of Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Brad Jones - while midfielders Jordan Lussey and Marc Pelosi have also left the club.

The Premier League have revealed the players who are on the retained and released lists of the 20 top-flight clubs, with Lussey and Pelosi joining the trio of senior players who have already announced their departures.

Lussey, 20, has been with the Academy since 2002, and joined Bolton on a youth loan earlier in the season.

Pelosi - who caught the eye of Reds scouts at the Under-17 World Cup in 2011 - had been tipped for big things with the US national team, but saw his development curtailed after breaking his leg.

The 20-year-old, who can play anywhere on the left side of defence or midfield, featured for the U-21s this season.

Gerrard will move to LA Galaxy next month, while Johnson and Jones remain without new clubs at this moment.

Tom Thorpe is one of five players who will be released by Manchester United this summer.

Goalkeeper Ben Amos, who made his debut almost seven years ago, is set to depart, as are Callum Evans and Ryan McConnell.

Midfielder Tom Cleverley will join Everton on a free transfer on July 1.

Thorpe, captain of last season's title-winning Under-21 side, played just 111 first-team seconds under Louis van Gaal in the nervy 2-1 win over West Ham last year.

"I want to play first-team football, so hopefully I can look forward to some of that in the future."

Skipper of the triumphant and talented 2011 FA Youth Cup side, Thorpe is the latest of that exciting and unfulfilled crop to leave Old Trafford.

Following the U-21s' final game of the season at City last month, Thorpe admitted he was frustrated not to have played more first-team minutes.

Amos made seven appearances for United, with his only Premier League appearance coming against Stoke in 2012.

Cleverley played 79 times for The Reds and spent stints on loan at Leicester, Watford, Wigan and Aston Villa.

Neither Evans nor Irishman McConnell played for the senior side.
