Transfer news: Juventus' Arturo Vidal relaxed despite Manchester United link

Chile international Arturo Vidal has reiterated that he is relaxed over his future admitting Manchester United could be an option for him.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move from Juventus to Manchester United in recent days.

New United boss Louis van Gaal is embarking on rebuilding his squad following a dismal season that saw them

miss out on European football for the first time in 25 years and part company with David Moyes.

Juventus have slapped a £35million fee on the player, but Vidal is in no rush to quit the Italian champions and insisted over the weekend he was happy.

Now whilst visiting a local charity during his holiday back in Chile, he again stated he was calm about his future.

"I'm not thinking of where I'm going to go, I want to take advantage of my holidays with the people I love," Vidal said on Chilean television.

"Right now, I'm thinking of other things. Afterwards, when I arrive in Italy, I'll see.

"I'm already at a great team, Juventus, so I will be just as calm if the Manchester United option falls through."

Vidal, who is under contract with Juve until June 2017, had right knee surgery on May 7

but recovered in time to help Chile reach the last 16 of the World Cup, where they lost on penalties to Brazil.

He added to Chilean sports programme Central Fox.: "My knee is good. I'm resting it after two hard months."

Vidal, who scored 11 goals in 32 league appearances for Juve last term, is expected to arrive in Turin for pre-season training on July 28.

Juventus have reiterated that they have no intention of selling reported Manchester United target Arturo Vidal.

Rumours continue to suggest that a deal to take the highly-rated Chile international to Old Trafford is close.

It has even been speculated that the sanctioning of a sale contributed to Antonio Conte’s decision to leave his managerial post in Turin.

Juve have wasted little time in filling that particular vacancy, with former AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri drafted in on a two-year deal.

At his unveiling on Wednesday,

Juve’s sporting director Giuseppe Marotta took the opportunity to address a number of issues, including Vidal’s future and the ongoing transfer gossip.

He said: “He’s a Juve player. We have never put him up for sale.

“A number of important clubs have asked about him but we have never sat around the table for negotiations.

“He’s one of the main players in this team and we hope to keep him, even though I know that it is often the player that decides their future.

“He has repeatedly said he's happy to stay here and we hope to continue together.”

Juventus and Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal has cooled speculation over his future by suggesting he could remain in Turin his entire career.

The 27-year-old impressed at the World Cup as Chile made the last-16,

causing several other top European clubs including Manchester United and Real Madrid to register their interest with his agent.

Vidal, who has three years left on his Juventus contract,

admits he is aware of the hype surrounding his name but revealed a sense of loyalty to the Serie A champions that could see him remain in Italy for the foreseeable future.

"It's difficult to speak of other teams when you are already at a top club,” Vidal told Chilean media.

“I have won the Serie A title three times and I respect my team-mates.

I don't feel I have completed a cycle at Juventus. Perhaps I will remain at Juventus all my life.

“I have heard about the interest shown by Real Madrid and Manchester United in me but there is someone else, my agent, who deals with this.

"Now the only thing my mind is on is that I have seven or eight days of holiday left and I want to go away from Chile in order to have a good rest.

Once I arrive back in Italy I will speak to the coach and see what happens.”

Vidal, who signed for Juve from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011,

has been instrumental in the club’s three successive title-winning seasons, scoring 11 goals in 32 league appearances last season alone.

But when he returns to the club on July 28, he will be welcomed by a new manager, Massimiliano Allegri,

who took over from Antonio Conte after the successful manager’s shock decision to step down this week.

Transfer news: Arturo Vidal 'not going to Manchester United' as he waits on Juventus talks



Arturo Vidal has told the Italian press that he will not be going to Manchester United this summer,


but admits he still does not know if he will be staying at Juventus and is waiting to hold talks over his future on Monday.

There has been intense speculation that the midfielder could be on the move since before the transfer window opened, but he has repeatedly played down the reports.

He kept his focus on Chile at the World Cup and is still enjoying a break before reporting back to Juve, where he has been a key player for the past three years.

The 27-year-old will speak to new boss Massimiliano Allegri at the start of next week and admits his future is uncertain, but appears to have ruled out a switch to Old Trafford.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Vidal insisted that he was still enjoying life in Turin and urged fans not to worry.

Vidal, who is under contract until 2017, said: "I'm still on holiday at the moment. Can I say I'm staying at Juve? I don't know. On Monday I'll talk to Allegri then we'll see.

"I'm happy here. I'm calm. I believe Juve fans can be too. I still haven't spoken to Allegri or my team-mates."

Asked if he was going to Manchester United, he added: "No, no."

A number of clubs have been linked with Vidal this summer but United were reportedly leading the chase and they are prepared to spend heavily if necessary.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward stated earlier this week: "The reality is that we're not afraid of spending significant amounts of money in the transfer market.

"Whether it's a record or not doesn't really resonate with us. What resonates is a top, top elite player that the manager wants that is going to be a star for Manchester United."

Transfer news: Juventus will only sell Arturo Vidal if he asks to leave

Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta has revealed they will only sell Arturo Vidal if he asks to leave.

Vidal's long-term future in Turin has been the subject of constant speculation since summer with Manchester United widely credited with an interest in his signature.

Chile international Vidal is under contract at Juventus until 2017 and Juventus are determined to hang onto the 27-year-old.

However, Marotta has conceded Juventus would consider selling Vidal if he indicates he is not happy at the club.

"(Arturo) Vidal? We already said that he is not on the market, but the player's will is decisive," said Marotta.

"Vidal has never said he wants to leave, and Juventus will sell him only if he were unhappy to remain.

"Nowadays, however, there’s absolutely no reason to even be discussing this now".

Marotta also rejected speculation that are interested in signing former Chelsea forward Samuel Eto'o on a free transfer as they search for striking reinforcements.

"With all due respect for the champion, he does not represent the profile we are looking for," added Marotta.

"The squad is more than competitive, but our market is not closed yet. We still need to do something in defence and attack."
