Saphir Taider: Southampton swap Dani Osvaldo for Inter Milan star

Southampton have confirmed the signing of Inter Milan midfielder Saphir Taider, with club-record signing Dani Osvaldo going the other way.
Taider, 22, who played 25 times in Serie A last season, joins on a season-long loan.
The Algerian played against Belgium and Germany at the 2014 World Cup.
"It's part of our philosophy to bring in talented young players, and Saphir fits that bill," said Saints boss Ronald Koeman.
Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has promised there will be more arrivals.
"We had very clear targets in mind. We are working position by position to create depth and competition from within.
We have until the end of August, and there will be more names."

Italian striker Osvaldo, 28, arrived at Southampton in August 2013 for £15m, but was sent out on loan in January after a training-ground fight .
The former Roma forward failed to arrive back for pre-season training and was given a leave of absence.
And Krueger believes that with the arrival of Taider the club have a signing to look forward to.
"When you get someone with such potential, a person from the World Cup, somebody already with leadership responsibility with his country,
then this is something for us to be excited about," he said.
Taider becomes the fourth signing of the summer, after the arrival of Dusan Tadic, Graziano Pelle and Ryan Bertrand.
However, Krueger says the exit of Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers
is not making negotiations for new players more difficult as clubs look to take advantage of their need for replacements.
"Every negotiation is difficult but I do not think that is a factor," he said. "It's whether the player wants to leave or go that decides the price in the end."

Dani Osvaldo: Southampton look to sell club-record striker



Southampton manager Ronald Koeman says the club are now looking to sell record signing Dani Osvaldo.
Italian striker Osvaldo, 28, arrived at Southampton in August 2013 for £15m, but was sent out on loan in January after a training-ground fight.
The former Roma forward failed to arrive back for pre-season training and has since been given leave of absence.
"It was a difficult situation for him to come back to," Saints manager Ronald Koeman told BBC Radio Solent.
Osvaldo scored three times in 13 games for Saints but had a tumultuous time in English football.
In January, he was suspended for three matches and fined £40,000 after being found guilty of violent conduct during an incident at Newcastle. (external)
Later that month he was involved in an altercation with Saints defender Jose Fonte,
which resulted in him being sent to Juventus on loan. He eventually missed out on Italy's World Cup squad.
His failure to arrive back for pre-season resulted in the Southampton board deciding to look to sell the forward.
"He was too late," added Koeman. "The decision of the board was to allow him not to come back.
We have to look for opportunities for him to play in a different team."

Dani Osvaldo could be set to join Inter Milan in the next few days, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Southampton striker is expected to leave St Mary’s during the transfer window and Inter are understood to be very interested, although they only want him on loan with an option to sign permanently next summer.

Transfer news: Southampton close on swapping Dani Osvaldo with Inter's Saphir Taider in loan deals

Southampton are in negotiations to swap misfit striker Dani Osvaldo for Inter's Saphir Taider on loan deals.

The Saints paid £12.8million for Italy international Osvaldo in August 2013 but he failed to settle at St Mary's

and was suspended by the club for a training ground incident before joining Juventus on loan.

Despite an exodus of stars, including forwards Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana,

new Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is thought to be keen to offload Osvaldo, 28, and believes he can secure the services of Inter midfielder Taider in the process.

Taider, 22, was part of the Algeria side who made a favourable impression at this summer's World Cup 2014 -

the unfancied African team taking eventual winners Germany to extra-time in the last 16.
