Potters emerge as possible destination for French defender
Stoke City are keen to take Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on loan.It emerged earlier this week that Jurgen Klopp was prepared to let the France international depart Anfield on a temporary basis in a bid to get regular game time.
And the Potters have moved quickly to register their interest in the centre-back, who is looking to get his career back on track after a troubled four months.Back in April Sakho was accused by UEFA of failing a drugs test and missed Euro 2016 before being subsequently cleared.
The former Paris Saint-Germain captain was then sent home from the pre-season tour of America by Klopp for repeatedly breaking club rules.
Sakho has now recovered from an Achilles injury but with the Reds boss happy with his defensive options he’s ready to sanction a loan move.
“Everybody who needs to be informed about this has been informed about this,” Klopp said following Tuesday’s 5-0 thrashing of Burton in the EFL Cup.
“There are no secrets with the important people, I would say.”
Stoke boss Mark Hughes is keen to bolster his backline after they conceded four against Manchester City last weekend. If the loan goes through then Sakho would join former Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen at the Britannia Stadium.http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-keen-agree-sakho-11795370
