TEIXEIRA DEAL STALLING?

Liverpool and Shakhtar Donetsk remain far apart in their valuations of Alex Teixeira, Sky Sports News HQ understands.

We are told Liverpool have had two bids rejected in this window.

A big compromise on price will be required if this deal is to go through.

LIVERPOOL TEIXEIRA DEAL ‘UNLIKELY’

Sky sources understand Alex Teixeira is unlikely to join Liverpool in this transfer window after the two clubs failed to agree a fee for the Brazilian.

Shakhtar Donetsk wanted at least £35million for a player they consider to be their last remaining valuable asset.

We understand it is likely Teixeira will leave in the summer, but no deal is in place with Liverpool or any other club.

Earlier this month manager Mircea Lucescu said he would not stand in the way of Teixeira leaving if the offer was right for the club.

Shakhtar have regrets over the £24 million sale of Douglas Costa to Bayern Munich, deeming the value too cheap, and as a result were prepared to be stubborn with the Teixeira negotiations.

They are also mindful of winning back the Ukrainian title from Dynamo Kyiv. The pair are level on points at the top of the table with Teixeira a key part of the team.

TEIXEIRA ADMITS FRUSTRATION

Alex Teixeira has admitted his frustration after Shakhtar Dontesk rejected a bid from Liverpool for the Brazilian.

The 26-year-old says he wants to join the Reds in the current window and his agent is doing all he can to force the move through, but Sky sources understand Liverpool are unlikely to pay the £35m Shakhtar want.

"The team received one official offer from Liverpool. It was rejected. I don't know why," Teixeira confirmed to US broadcaster NBC Sports.

"It was a great offer. It is frustrating. But the manager and the club president decided against it. So now I am just waiting, trying to be patient.

"Liverpool is a huge club. So many great players have passed through there. It would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt.

"I know my agent is still attempting everything possible to help me get to Liverpool. I've played with [Philippe] Coutinho since we were 10 years old. It would be a lot of fun to play with him again."

TEIXERA DEAL BACK ON?

Liverpool have made their intentions to sign Alex Teixera pretty clear this window but the deal seemed to have hit the buffers regarding the transfer fee. Shakhtar Donetsk wanted £38 million but Liverpool offered £25 million.

It’s notoriously difficult to buy players from Ukraine in the January window but our reporter Kaveh Solhekol has just reported a deal COULD still be negotiated today. Watch this space…
