It looks as though another big transfer could be on the horizon as we understand Manchester City are in negotiations with Wolfsburg to sign Kevin de Bruyne.

It is thought Wolfsburg value the Belgian at more than £50m and are sticking to that figure. However, City are working hard and are determined to do the deal.

Manchester City are closing in on a deal for Kevin de Bruyne which would take their summer spending towards the £150m mark.

Wolfsburg value the former Chelsea midfielder at more than £50m and it is understood they are reluctant to move from that asking price.

City are determined to complete the deal as quickly as possible, having already finalised Nicolas Otamendi's move from Valencia.

The fee for Otamendi is £33m which, when combined with the £49m the club paid Liverpool for Raheem Sterling, represents a major investment in the City squad which would be increased further by the purchase of De Bruyne.

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking believes the prolonged transfer for De Bruyne is having a negative effect on the player, who has played in all three of the German club's games so far this season.

"Kevin is a bit tired at the moment because there is so much happening around him," Hecking told Bild.

"He finds himself in a situation that is on his mind all the time, just like it has been over the past few weeks. We are just trying to get him in the best shape possible."

Some news coming in from German newspaper Bild that Wolfsburg and Manchester City have reached an agreement over a fee for Kevin de Bruyne.

The figure is believed to be 70m euros (£50.4million) but it is understood the Belgian trained with Wolfsburg this morning and will travel with his team-mates to Cologne for their match tomorrow.

Manchester City are in advanced negotiations with Wolfsburg for the transfer of former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, Sky Germany reports.

A deal for the 24-year-old believed to be worth around 70m euros (£50.4m) is expected to be announced on Monday.

De Bruyne trained with his current club on Friday morning and is in their squad for the Bundesliga match at Cologne on Saturday.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was asked about the potential deal on Friday but refused to be drawn.

"I don't talk about rumours," he said. "I have to talk about so many players, it is impossible. When things are finished, then I can talk about them.

"The window closes on 1 September. Before that, nobody knows what happens."

City are understood to have made a £47m offer for the player last week which was rejected.

Pellegrini's men have made a good start to the Premier League season, beating West Bromwich Albion and champions Chelsea by the same 3-0 scoreline, and travel to Everton on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1.

And City have been big players in the transfer market this summer as they look to recapture the title, having acquired forward Raheem Sterling from Liverpool, defender Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia and midfielder Fabian Delph from Aston Villa.

Jose Mourinho insists Chelsea were right to sell Kevin De Bruyne and has claimed the Belgian star was “an upset kid”.

According to Sky sources, Manchester City are close to a deal for the Wolfsburg midfielder, with the German club valuing him at more than £50m.

The Blues sold De Bruyne for £18m in 2014 to Wolfsburg and Mourinho claims the player was "crying every day he wants to leave" and was not motivated in training.

Mourinho said: "With De Bruyne, if you have a player knocking on your door and crying every day he wants to leave, you have to make a decision. At that time, Chelsea did well.

"If De Bruyne stayed here, not happy and not motivated, and we'd sold him after a year, we'd have got less - 50 per cent less than we sold him for.

"But, if he was at Chelsea and not at Wolfsburg, he wouldn't have reached this level. It was like a wall, a block.

"He was not ready to compete. He was an upset kid, training very bad.

"He always said he had trained well in his life, but he needs motivation to train well by playing every game."

The Blues could give new signing Pedro his debut in Sunday's Premier League game against West Brom following his move from Barcelona.

Manchester City 'finalising Kevin de Bruyne deal with Wolfsburg', Sky Germany report

Manchester City are finalising a deal to sign Kevin de Bruyne from Wolfsburg and it could be completed on Tuesday, Sky Germany report.

The clubs have been in advanced negotiations over a deal worth £50.4m since late last week but, due to the complex nature of the agreement, Monday will come too soon for an announcement.

De Bruyne was present at Wolfsburg's training ground on Sunday but did not take part in any sessions – but the Belgium international is expected to train normally with the squad on Monday.

The 24-year-old played 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw with FC Koln on Saturday.

De Bruyne, who spent an unsuccessful two years at Chelsea until January 2014, revealed a potential return to the Premier League back in June when he confirmed his agent had had informal contact with City representatives.

Sky sources reported earlier in August that City had launched an initial £47m bid for the attacker, but it was rejected.

Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs denied that a formal offer had been made, but subsequently admitted that he and the club were expecting such an event imminently.

That bid came last week and was agreed by the Bundesliga club, despite De Bruyne being lured into stating he was staying at Wolfsburg at the Sport-Bild awards, angering his agent.
