An AC Milan player for 11 years and youth-team coach for two seasons, Filippo Inzaghi has been confirmed as Clarence Seedorf's successor at the Rossoneri helm.



AC Milan have parted company with Clarence Seedorf just five months into his contract and named Filippo Inzaghi as the Dutchman's successor.

The 40-year-old former Italian international striker has inked a two-year deal to become the Rossoneri's third coach this year.
Seedorf, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri in January, departs San Siro after overseeing a run of 11 wins from 19 Serie A outings
as Milan finished the 2013/14 campaign in eighth.

Inzaghi underlined his coaching credentials during two years in charge of the club's Allievi Nazionali team, leading them to the round of 16 in this season's inaugural UEFA Youth League.
He scored 126 goals in 300 games in all competitions during his 11-season spell with Milan, in which he won both the UEFA Champions League and the Scudetto twice.

AC Milan are set to replace coach Clarence Seedorf with the Dutchman's former team-mate Filippo Inzaghi, Goal has learned.

The former Netherlands international took over at San Siro in January following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri and delivered the club to an eighth-placed finish in Serie A.

However, he has not done enough to keep his job after the relationship between coach and board deteriorated during his five-month spell.

Milan have been searching for a replacement, but have been put off their pusuit of Sevilla coach Unai Emery due to the high costs involved.

Club management figures, including owner Silvio Berlusconi and CEO Adriano Galliani,

met on Monday afternoon and have decided that Inzaghi is the only viable candidate to train the team next season.

The 40-year-old enjoyed a glittering 11-year spell at the Giuseppe Meazza, winning Serie A and the Champions League twice apiece.

Since his retirement in 2012, he has been in charge of the club's Primavera side and has long been seen as a future coach for the full team.

Berlusconi and Galliani are expected to inform the former Italy of their decision to promote him imminently.

Serie A: Reports say Clarence Seedorf may be sacked as coach of AC Milan today



Clarence Seedorf is facing an uncertain future, with widespread reports in the Italian media suggesting he will be sacked as coach of AC Milan on Tuesday.

It is reported that the 38-year-old, who has only been in the post for four months, will be replaced by former Milan team-mate and current youth team coach Filippo Inzaghi.

Seedorf signed a two-and-a-half year contract in January and took the team from 12th place in Serie A to an eighth-place finish.

But rumours about the Dutchman's future have been rife for several weeks, and club president Silvio Berlusconi met chief executive Adriano Galliani on Monday night to discuss Seedorf's future.

Italy's three sports papers, Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, all carried similar reports, which were unsourced.

Inzaghi spent 11 seasons playing for Milan, where he won two Serie A titles and two Champions League titles, and also won 57 caps for Italy.
