Roma recorded a 10th straight league win in Serie A courtesy of a 1-0 win against Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico - a new record in Serie A.Rudi Garcia's side had to huff and puff against the league's bottom team, but finally
got their reward on 67 minutes when Marco Borriello pounced to glance a header in off a post from Alessandro Florenzi's cross as Chievo's defence was finally breached.Roma have a perfect 30 points from their opening 10 games with Chievo remaining bottom of the standings having amassed only four points.
This was their sixth straight defeat in the league despite a spirited if limited performance in the Italian capital.
They last lost six on the trot back in November 2008. They look like they are facing a long harsh winter attempting to escape from relegation.
The home side hold a
five-point lead over Napoli and defending champions Juventus, a scenario Roma fans could have scarcely imagined at the outset of the season.Chievo packed their defence, harried Roma in midfield and stood over the ball at free kicks to stop them being taken quickly.
Roma, who have
conceded only one goal all season, were missing talismanic striker Francesco Tottiand Ivorian forward Gervinho and they struggled to make chances against the wall of yellow shirts.
Tempers flared several times until the home side finally broke through when Florenzi ran on to toMiralem Pjanic's pass,
weaved his way through a crowded area and chipped the ball up for Boriello to head in at the near post.
Chievo could have equalised when Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis failed to hold Luca Rigoni's long-range effort,
but Alberto Paloschi was offside as he closed in for the rebound.Garcia has transformed Roma from the erratic,
bickering outfit who limped home in sixth place last term and lost to arch-rivals Lazio in the Coppa Italia final.
