The Lakers will offer Carmelo Anthony a max deal of four years for $97 million.
It wasn't a matter of money for the Lakers with only three players under contract. They met with Anthony for 2.5 hours today with Jeanie Buss, Jim Buss, Mitch Kupchak, James Worthy and other executives. Kobe Bryant is expected to meet with Melo tonight, but it doesn't sound like he'll make a decision this evening.

The Blazers have reached an agreement with Chris Kaman on a two-year, $10 million contract.
This likely takes the Blazers out of the running on Spencer Hawes. Kaman will come in and back up Robin Lopez, who has been remarkably durable in his NBA career. He'll likely just have his minutes in the teens and will not have much fantasy value. The second year of his deal is partially guaranteed.

Says official who was part of meetings ESPN reported on: "There's clearly a breakdown in communication between LeBron and (Wade and Bosh)."

Spencer Hawes and the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed upon a four-year, $23 million deal.

Hawes finished last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Hawes is unlikely to be moved to the Clippers in a sign-and-trade.

Patrick Patterson Re-Signs With Raptors For Three-Years, $18M

Patrick Patterson has agreed to a three-year, $18 million contract with the Toronto Raptors.

Patterson had an integral reserve role for the Raptors following his trade from the Sacramento Kings.

Jazz acquire Steve Novak as Raptors dump salary

The Raptors sent Steve Novak to the Jazz in a salary-clearing move Saturday, according to Yahoo.com.
Novak, who has $7.2 million remaining over the last two years of his contract,
was traded to the Jazz for Diante Garrett and his non-guaranteed deal, as well as a second-round draft pick.
According to the report, Garrett will be waived by the Raptors after he is acquired.

Nikola Mirotic, Bulls Begin Working On Deal

Nikola Mirotic has secured a $3 million buyout with Real Madrid in order to come to the Chicago Bulls,
reports HoopsHype.Mirotic was the 23rd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and has since developed into one of Europe's best forwards.
Because he was drafted three years ago, Mirotic is not subject to the rookie salary-cap scale,
and the Bulls likely will need to use some of their cap space to contribute to his buyout and sign him to a long-term contract.
The Bulls can pay up to $600,000 toward Mirotic's buyout, but anything over that amount would be considered a signing bonus and
be charged to the Bulls' cap. Shams Charania of RealGM reports that the two sides believe they don't have significant ground to cover,
but no deal is imminent.The Bulls' decision to move forward with Mirotic at this point signals that they will be moving on without Carlos Boozer next season. Boozer can either be amnestied or traded.

Free agent Luol Deng meets with Heat

Miami Heat president Pat Riley met with free-agent forward Luol Deng in Chicago on Saturday, league sources told ESPN.

The meeting was described as "preliminary," according to a source, as Riley attempted to sell Deng on the benefits of joining the four-time defending Eastern Conference champions.

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that Deng will not take a salary significantly below his market value, believed to be above $10 million annually, merely to sign with the Heat.

Deng has several suitors, including Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago and the Los Angeles Lakers, but a source said Riley's pitch intrigued him.

Devin Harris to return to Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks secured a verbal commitment from veteran point guard Devin Harris on Saturday to re-sign with the team, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Mavericks are putting the finishing touches on a deal that will span at least three seasons and possibly stretch to a fourth year in Harris' second stint with the club.

Lakers move into three-team race for Carmelo Anthony

(9:30 pm ET) Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony came away from his meeting with the Lakers very impressed
and is now seriously considering them as a free-agency destination, according to reports Saturday.


ESPN.com first reported that the Lakers made a 'major impact' on Anthony and are now one of three teams the free agent is considering, along with the Bulls and Knicks.
The Knicks can offer the most money and an extra year on a max contract, however the Lakers have also offered a max contract for his services.
The Bulls do not currently have the cap space to give Anthony a max deal.
