Warriors, Nuggets and Jazz in sign-and-trade talks involving trade exception, Iguodala and Foye

The Golden State Warriors are in advanced discussions on a three-way, sign-and-trade scenario centered on delivering a trade exception and Utah Jazz free agent Randy Foye to the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.


    In the deal, which could be finalized on Monday, Denver would sign-and-trade forward Andre Iguodala to Golden State for the four-year, $48 million contract he had agreed to sign with the Warriors. This would create a $12 million trade exception that the Nuggets would have a full year to use before it expires.


    Utah would sign-and-trade Foyeto Denver on a three-year, $9 million deal, with a team option on thethird season, sources said.



The sign-and-trade would give the Warriors the salary cap flexibility to sign their 2013 first-round pick, Serbian Nemanja Nedovic,and preserve the Warriors' midlevel salary exception. Golden Statewould send Utah a future second-round pick for its role in facilitatingthe deal.

Coach (Rasheed Wallace) Don’t Lie?

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS – Jason Kidd isn’t the only former New York Knicks veteran to trade in his locker room stall for a spot in the coach’s locker room. In what has to qualify as the best news perhaps of the entire offseason, HT fave Rasheed Wallace will soon be announced as a member of the Detroit Pistons’ coaching staff under Mo Cheeks.

Wallace is in Orlando for summer league action with the Pistons and was spotted in the gym at the Amway Center this afternoon with a polo shirt on with the Pistons’ logo on the upper left side. Wallace helped the Pistons become an Eastern Conference power and won a ring in 2004 and made another trip to The Finals in 2005.

He’s expected to work with the Pistons’ young frontcourt core of Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and Tony Mitchell, hopefully imparting some of the same wisdom he did for guys like Jermaine O’Neal and Zach Randolph when they youngsters in Portland playing behind a then-All-Star Wallace. Both O’Neal and Randolph went on to become All-Stars after being tutored by Wallace, who saw his season and likely his playing career come to an end this season in New York when a stress fracture sidelined him.

Wallace’s presence could be a huge boost for Pistons’ free-agent pickup Josh Smith, who has agreed to a four-year, $56 million deal with the team that cannot be signed until Wednesday. For all of the hype about Wallace’s technical fouls and run-ins with officials over the course of his career, he’s been lauded by many who have played with him as the ideal teammate and one of the smartest players to come through the league in his era.

Kaman, Lakers agree to one-year, $3.2 million

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Chris Kaman is headed back to Los Angeles, this time with the Lakers.

The 7-foot free agent center who spent the first eight years of his career with the Clippers said Monday on Twitter that he had agreed to join the Lakers. The deal is reportedly for one year at $3.2 million.

"I am going to be going back to LA and it's to play for the Lakers!" Kaman wrote. "I am excited about this move and can't wait to play!"

It will be Kaman's second straight season on a one-year contract. He had an $8 million deal to be the starter in Dallas last season but spent more than half of every game on coach Rick Carlisle's bench.

He spent the previous season with New Orleans after he was part of the trade that sent Chris Paul to the Clippers.

The Lakers grabbed Kaman after Dwight Howard chose not to return and agreed to a deal with the Houston Rockets.

The 31-year-old Kaman started 52 of his 66 games with the Mavericks, but averaged the fewest minutes of his career because he struggled on the defensive end in Carlisle's system. He scored 10.5 points per game but tied a career low from his rookie season at 5.6 rebounds and had his lowest average in blocks at 0.8.

Kaman was an All-Star with the Clippers in 2009-10, when he averaged a career-high 18.5 points. He has career averages of 11.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- A person with knowledge of the deal says the Golden State Warriors and Marreese Speights have reached an agreement on a free agent contract.


The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymityMonday because teams can't announce moves until the new league yearbegins Wednesday. Terms of the deal weren't immediately known.
