Deal for defender Bramble completed
Sunderland have signed Titus Bramble from Wigan for an undisclosed fee.
Sunderland have completed the signing of central defender Titus Bramble from Wigan Athletic.
The 28-year-old has moved for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Stadium of Light until summer 2013.
Bramble is the second player to follow Black Cats manager Steve Bruce to Sunderland from the DW Stadium since his tenure on Wearside began last summer.
Bruce also signed former Latics captain Lee Cattermole in August 2009, with both Cattermole and Bramble having played integral roles as he steered Wigan to a credible 11th in the Barclays Premier League during the 2008-09 campaign.
Speaking about the signing, Steve Bruce said: "Titus was absolutely outstanding for me at Wigan. He matured into a very, very good player so there was absolutely no hesitation when the chance came to bring him to Sunderland.
"He was certainly the right player at the right price and this is a great deal for the football club."
Bramble began his career with hometown club Ipswich Town, becoming an integral part of the Tractor Boys side which finished an impressive fifth in its first season in the Premier League under George Burley in 2000-01.
His performances caught the eye of then Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson, who took the defender to Tyneside for £6m in July 2002. Bramble would spend five years in the North East before leaving for Wigan Athletic in June 2007.
Bramble flourished under Bruce in the North West, finishing as the club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year in the 2008/09 season.
Bramble won ten international caps for England at Under-21 level.
