Wenger - Signings unlikelyGunners boss admits January activity is doubtful
Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will leave any transfer deadline signings to their Premier League rivals - unless a golden opportunity comes along.
The Gunners boss previously revealed he was on the look-out for a new centre-half during this month's transfer window to provide cover for his injury-hit backline.
Thomas Vermaelen has not played since September due to injury, while Sebastien Squillaci returned for Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round win against Huddersfield only to get sent off.
Arsenal are still competing on four fronts this season after that victory, meaning Wenger needs strength of depth in his squad to challenge in all competitions.
However, despite Arsenal being strongly linked with stoppers such as Bolton's Gary Cahill and Chris Samba of Blackburn Rovers, no new defender has yet arrived at Emirates Stadium ahead of the window closing on Monday.
Wenger has also identified Southampton starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a target this month, but the French boss, known for his refusal to panic buy, says a deal for any player is unlikely unless exceptional circumstances arise.
He said: "I will leave the headlines to other clubs.
"But I cannot tell you definitely no because if somebody knocks at my door in the morning and says 'I would like to play for you' and he is a good player, I will sign him."http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6711131,00.html差 d 笑到噴水
