Victor Wanyama staying at Southampton as Tottenham miss out

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to stay at St Mary's with any possibility of him joining Tottenham now gone, according to Sky sources.

The 24-year-old left the United Kingdom on Tuesday morning to join up with the Kenya national team ahead of their fixtures against Zambia and Equatorial Guinea.

Wanyama was left out of the Southampton squad for the 3-0 win over Norwich on Sunday as manager Ronald Koeman felt he was not "mentally and physically good enough to play".

Sky sources understand the 24-year-old had asked to leave the Premier League club, with former Saints boss Maurico Pochettio keen on bringing him to Tottenham.

FLAMINI SET FOR EXIT?

Arsenal fans will want their club to bring in a few new faces today but there could be movement the other way with Mathieu Flamini possibly heading for the Emirates exit door, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims the Frenchman is surplus to requirements at the Gunners and can leave the club today.

Galatasaray are thought to be interested in the French midfielder.

DE GUZMAN DEAL OFF

Jonathan de Guzman’s move to Bournemouth is unlikely to happen, according to Sky sources.

A deal had been in place for him to join from Napoli on loan with a view to a permanent move.

Jonas Gutierrez: Ex-Newcastle winger agrees Deportivo move

Former Newcastle midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has agreed a move to Spanish top-flight side Deportivo La Coruna.
The 32-year-old Argentine was released by the Magpies this summer after his contract expired.
Deportivo said the deal is subject to Gutierrez, who returned to action in March after recovering from testicular cancer, passing his medical.
Gutierrez scored 12 goals in 205 appearances for Newcastle after joining from Mallorca in 2008.
He criticised the Magpies' hierarchy after leaving St James' Park, saying they made him feel like they "didn't care" after releasing him in a phone call.

WATFORD DEALS

Watford are busy negotiating deals this morning.

Victor Ibarbo is due in for a medical this afternoon after a season long-loan deal was agreed with Roma.

Abdoulaye Doucoure's representatives are in discussions with the club after a fee was agreed with Rennes. He would have a medical in France.

Obbi Oulare is currently having a medical in London ahead of a move from Club Brugge. It’s a season long loan with option for permanent move.
