Reds join chase for Taiwo
Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in Marseille left-back Taye Taiwo, who is out of contract in the summer. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson saw the 25-year-old play against Monaco last month while Manchester City, Tottenham, Juventus and Real Madrid have also watched the Nigerian recently. He is looking for a five-year deal worth £3.5million a season. Meanwhile, United are giving a trial to Grimsby Town teenager Rob Peet. The 18-year-old is spending the week at Carrington.

In other transfer speculation, The Mirror says United will soon complete a deal for 16-year-old Belgian Adnan Januzaj, dubbed the ‘new David Beckham'. The right winger of Serbian descent will allegedly leave Anderlecht's youth system and sign a four-year deal with United.
Several reports attempt to inflame passions ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby. The Mirror and Telegraph quote Sir Bobby Charlton, who says the conversation during his 2009 meeting with City owner Sheik Mansour revolved only around United, rather than the Blues. The Telegraph also claims City moved quickly on Thursday to shut down their groundsman's Facebook page, after a 'foul-mouthed tirade' against United.
A more placatory piece appears in The Guardian, where United legend Brian Kidd, now assistant manager at Eastlands, speaks of his admiration for Sir Alex Ferguson, saying: "I will always appreciate what he's done for me. You can't buy those wonderful memories."
