Ambassador role for Neville
Manchester United is delighted to announce that Gary Neville is to take on an ambassadorial role for the Club. Gary will join Sir Bobby Charlton and Bryan Robson in a position which sees great legends of the game represent the Club at football, sponsor, community and charity events across the world.
The ambassadors are fundamental in the work done with our fans, partners and the wider community to help keep them at the heart of the Manchester United family. The impact each of these legends has on the people they meet is reflective of their status within the game. Sir Bobby and Bryan have already set a world-class benchmark in this role, and we are honoured that Gary will be joining them.
United chief executive David Gill said:
“Gary has been associated with this Club for over two decades and has always been a firm favourite with our fans, he has a real passion for Manchester United and it is important that we keep the association of our long-serving players through this key role. Gary will represent the Club at various events to help bring the Manchester United family to the wider community."
Commercial director Richard Arnold said:
“Gary’s appointment was driven by his standing at the club coupled with a need for additional ambassadors as a result of the rapid expansion of Manchester United’s commercial operations. Gary’s passion and commitment to succeed on the pitch is matched, off the pitch, by the Club’s global commercial operation. Gary is a welcome addition to the team and the Club along with our sponsors and the Manchester United Foundation are looking forward to working with him.”
Gary Neville said:
“I am honoured to be joining Sir Bobby and Bryan in representing Manchester United, not only locally but globally. This Club, as everyone knows, is part of my soul and it is a task I will really relish and I am looking forward to it.”
