Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is set to join Turkish side Besiktas on a season-long loan.The 28-year-old Brazilian was left out of the squad by Brendan Rodgers for Liverpool's opening Premier League fixtures with Stoke City and Bournemouth.
Despite making 32 appearances for the Reds in all competitions last season,
Rodgers has indicated that he sees Emre Can as the team's first choice holding midfielder and so Lucas will be loaned out until the end of the campaign.The experienced Lucas has made 275 appearances for the Merseyside club since joining from Gremio for £5m back in 2007, scoring six goals.
Besiktas, who knocked Liverpool out of the UEFA Europa League last season, are in need of reinforcements in midfield following early-season injuries to Toglay Arslan and Veli Kavlak.
The Black Eagles sit fourth in the Turkish league table after one win and one defeat from their opening two matches.
Liverpool, who have won both their matches 1-0 so far, travel to Arsenal on Monday evening
