Official: Mexico's Guillermo Ochoa signs for Ajaccio after being cleared of doping
The 25-year-old's free transfer was placed into doubt after he tested positive for clenbuterol, but he has since been absolved and has now completed his move to the French side
Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has signed for Ajaccio on a three-year deal, the French side have announced.
Ochoa, who has spent his entire career with Mexico City-based Club America, had already agreed a deal with the Corsican outfit, but the move was placed in serious doubt when the keeper tested positive for clenbuterol on international duty at the Gold Cup last month.
The player, along with four other international team-mates, has now been cleared by the Mexican Football Federation [FMF], with the organisation revealing they had suffered from food poisoning.
That allowed Ochoa, who was a free agent and had also been linked with both Paris Saint-German and Fulham, to seal a move to the islanders and become the first Mexican to play in Ligue 1 since Rafa Marquez, who left Monaco in 2003 to join Barcelona.
