Duo miss out for France
Blanc finalises squad for Euro 2012By Pete O'Rourke - Follow me: @skysportspeteo. Last Updated: May 29, 2012 11:21am
France coach Laurent Blanc has named his final 23-man squad for Euro 2012, with Yoann Gourcuff and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa being left out.Lyon midfielder Gourcuff has struggled this season and he failed to impress in last weekend's 3-2 victory over Iceland.
Meanwhile, the absence of Yanga-Mbiwa from the final list is no major surprise.
He captained Montpellier's Ligue 1 title-winning team, but has yet to be capped by Les Bleus and Blanc feels he has enough cover in the centre of defence.
Marseille striker Loic Remy had already been ruled out from Laurent Blanc's initial 26-man list due to injury.
Sochaux's Marvin Martin, Blaise Matuidi of Paris Saint-Germain and Gael Clichy of Manchester City all made the cut, with the latter winning his place due to the absence of Eric Abidal, who is recovering from a liver transplant he underwent in March.
France 23-man squad:Carrasso (Bordeaux), Lloris (Lyon), Mandanda (Marseille); Clichy (Man City), Debuchy (Lille), Evra (Man Utd), Koscielny (Arsenal), Mexes (AC Milan), Rami (Valencia), Reveillere (Lyon); Cabaye (Newcastle), Diarra (Marseille), Malouda (Chelsea), Martin (Sochaux), Matuidi (Paris St Germain), M'vila (Rennes), Nasri (Man City); Ben Arfa (Newcastle), Benzema (Real Madrid), Giroud (Montpellier), Menez (Paris St Germain), Ribery (Bayern Munich), Valbuena (Marseille).
