Liverpool to sign Oussama Assaidi from Heerenveen
Winger Oussama Assaidi is set to join Liverpool from Dutch side Heerenveen, the Merseyside club has revealed.
Morocco international Assaidi, 24, is to undergo a medical at the club's Melwood training ground with a view to becoming Brendan Rodgers' third signing.
Assaidi has scored 20 goals in 68 appearances for Heerenveen.
He has represented Morocco 22 times since making his international debut in February 2011.
Liverpool have not revealed the fee paid for Assaidi, who caught the attention of Europe's top clubs when he scored a hat-trick and assisted the other three goals when Heerenveen beat FC Twente 6-2 in December 2010.
His career has also included a spell at Dutch side De Graafschap.
Rodgers revealed earlier on Thursday that he was hoping to sign "one or two more players" before Saturday's opening game of the season away to West Brom.
"We hope in the next couple of days we'll have one or two coming in," he said.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with loan deals for Barcelona winger Cristian Tello, 21, and Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, 23.
Rodgers has already signed Italian forward Fabio Borini from Roma and midfielder Joe Allen from Swansea.
