Chilean international Gonzalo Jara Reyes has agreed personal terms on a deal which will see him return to Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.
The 27 year old right back enjoyed a successful loan spell on Trentside last season – arriving in January and playing a pivotal role in propelling The Reds into playoff contention.
He has now agreed to make the move permanent by committing to a one-year deal at The City Ground following his release from West Bromwich Albion.
Jara - who was part of the Chile squad who bolstered their World Cup qualification hopes with wins over Paraguay and Bolivia earlier in the month - will be reunited with his Forest teammates at the start of pre-season.
Reds manager Billy Davies is delighted that Jara has chosen Forest as his next permanent destination.
He said: “I am very pleased Gonzalo has agreed to join us for next season.
“He made a terrific impact while on loan with us last year and it was hugely disappointing to lose him to injury at such a crucial stage in the campaign.
“He gives us real strength in depth and brings with him an abundance of experience from the top level of the game.”

Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of American full back Eric Lichaj on a free transfer.
The 24 year old, who has eight caps for the USA, has signed a two-year deal.
A product of the American college football system, Lichaj cut his education short to sign for Aston Villa in 2008.
He went on to make 31 Premier League appearances for the Birmingham outfit, 17 of which came last season as Paul Lambert’s young side battled bravely to avoid relegation.
The full back, who can play on either side, also has Championship experience after enjoying a loan spell with Leeds United in the 2010-11 season.
Reds manager Billy Davies was delighted to get his man.
He told nottinghamforest.co.uk: “Eric is a great signing for us. He has experience at the top level of English football and arrives at an important stage of his career.
“We are very much looking forward to working with him.”
