Brazilian midfielder Paulinho claims Tottenham have made an 'official offer' to Corinthians for his services.
The 24-year-old told reporters at the Confederations Cup that Spurs have tabled a bid, reported to be in the region of £17m.
"There is an official offer from Tottenham to Corinthians," said Paulinho after Brazil's 4-2 win over Italy, which he missed with an ankle injury.
"But, as I did when there was an Inter Milan offer, I'll sit and decide with my family before I make any decision. I will only do it after the Confederations Cup because it's hard to deal with all these things."
Corinthians director of football Edu - a former Arsenal player - has confirmed that there have been further developments and a move to London now looks likely.
When asked about the interest from the White Hart Lane club, Edu told UOL: "The situation is well under way.
"We have to agree on some details of the negotiation, so I can't say he will leave yet, but the negotiations are good."
The 24-year-old made his Brazil debut in 2011 and was recently on target for his country against England at the Maracana.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is yet to add to his squad at White Hart Lane this summer as he bids to improve on last season's fifth-place finish.
