Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the Italy U21 international Giulio Donati. 
The 23-year-old right back, who was on loan from Inter Milan to Italian second division club US Grosseto last season, penned a contract to 30 June 2017 and he will wear the number shirt. The two clubs have agreed not to disclose details of the deal.“I’m happy the signing has gone through. Bayer 04 is a top German club and is well respected in Italy. I’m really looking forward to playing in the Bundesliga and Leverkusen being in the Champions League this season presents me with a really special challenge. I’ll give 100 per cent to help Bayer 04 achieve their targets,” said Donati.“In Giulio Donati we have signed a young and ambitious player who completely fits the team profile at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He was solid as a rock in the successful Italy team at the U21 Euros in Israel. We are convinced that Donati will do a great job at right back,” declared Bayer 04 managing director Wolfgang Holzhauser when asked about the transfer.Sporting director Rudi Voller said the signing of the European Championship runner-up showed that “a player with great potential has been signed. Donati is a regular with the U21s, he gained a lot of match practice in Italy in Serie B and he further impressed us with his solid performances in the Euros in Israel. Giulio will prove to be a hit for us,” added Voller.
