French press: Arsenal offer for Grenier rejected
According to French publication Le 10 Sport, Arsenal have finally tabled a formal bid for Lyon’s Clement Grenier while Marseille are planning talks with Gervinho in the coming days.In an ‘exclusive’ the paper claims the Gunners offered below ?10 million for French international Grenier earlier in this week but that OL president Jean-Michel Aulas rejected the bid.
Stressing that the ball is now back in Arsenal’s court, the report also claims it’s up to Arsene Wenger to raise the stakes even though the 22-year-old midfielder has only one year left on his contract at the Stade de Gerland.
Le 10 Sport were the first to pick up the baton on the Gervinho to Marseille story a few weeks ago, added to their case by asking the club’s assistant coach Franck Passi about the player, and maintain that the story still has legs.
Apparently Marseille sporting director, Jose Anigo, contacted our Ivorian winger as far back as May about a possible move and that contact has been maintained ever since. The latest development sees talks set for next week between Gerv’s representatives and president Vincent Labrune.Apparently.
Taking each report at face value it’s clear neither deal is close to being done.

Lyon Turn Down Arsenal Offer for Midfielder Clement Grenier
Midfielder claims Gunners have failed to sign him.

Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier has claimed that Arsenal have failed in an attempt to land his signature, Sky Sports reports.
The highly rated 22-year-old has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for some time and he has been heavily linked with a move for the newly capped French international, but his club have so far been reluctant to sell.
With just 12 months left on his current deal a move abroad had been widely tipped to go ahead as Arsenal looked to take advantage of his situation.
And Grenier has admitted that he does not know what the future will hold as Lyon prepare to hold further talks with him, whilst more interest from overseas is also expected.
“I know Lyon have rejected an offer from Arsenal. Of course it is flattering that clubs are interested in me,” he told French newspaper Le Parisien.
“It’s hard for me to talk about my future now because I’m not yet certain of it. I prefer to wait to be 100 per cent sure of what is going to happen before I do it.”
“My decision will be made and announced after the meeting. As soon as I’m 100 per cent certain, then I can say more about it. Even for me it’s a little complicated.
“I’m very happy to return to Tignes, to prepare. I know the season will be long. That’s my priority for the moment.”
