Chelsea Willing to Meet £25m Asking Price for Aston Villa Striker Christian Benteke Stamford Bridge side turn attention to Villa Park forward.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to meet Aston Villa’s £25m price-tag as Jose Mourinho looks to hijack Tottenham’s bid for Belgian forward Christian Benteke according to
SportsDirectNews.
The Stamford Bridge side are looking for an alternative striker transfer target having seemingly given up on their continued pursuit of Napoli ace Edinson Cavani and now Mourinho is said to be eyeing up 22 year old Villa Park forward Benteke.
Benteke, who scored 19 Premier League goals in his debut season in the English top tier, is seen as a viable alternative to both Cavani and Man United striker Wayne Rooney and Mourinho believes his West London side can certainly fork out the £25m needed to meet the Midlands side’s valuation on the grounds that they will save a bundle on his wage demands.
Both Cavani and Rooney would demand in excess of £150k a week whilst Benteke, who is currently on a £20k a week deal, could accept as little as £60k a week in order to join a side that can offer him Champions League football.
Benteke may be further swayed by the chance to move to Chelsea by the presence of a number of his compatriots, including Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne.
