Martinez: New Staff VitalThursday 4th July 2013 18:32 by Hamish Dufton
Roberto Martinez says his newly assembled backroom team will be vital in helping him get to grips with his new role.
Martinez has boosted his staff by recruiting four names he knows well from his previous clubs.
Arriving at Everton are
Graeme Jones, who becomes assistant manager,
goalkeeping coach Inaki Bergara and
new head of performance Richard Evans. Martinez has also brought in
Kevin Reeves as chief scout.
It means he now has a familiar, tried and tested team in place.
"We've brought people with real experience in the Premier League already," Martinez told evertontv.
"They bring a real understanding of how we work and what we need to reach with the players and help them as quick as we can to be a strong team at the start of the season.
"What we have is a lot of important people at the football club that have excellent results and we'll make sure we get together to be ready for the start of the season."
Martinez and his staff are relishing getting to work with the players, with a vitally important pre-season trip to Austria on the horizon.
"When the players come back to work, it is an exciting time," he added. "We're all getting ready at Finch Farm, every single department, for an exciting season.
"Obviously the players coming back from their well-deserved break is something we look forward to. That's going to happen in stages. The players that have been involved with the national teams - that will be reflected in the time that they will have as a recovery period.
