Alan Pardew is making a move to sign English players at Newcastle.
Toon Army boss Pardew is trying to bring in Reading keeper Alex McCarthy and Manchester City misfit Scott Sinclair during his summer reshuffle.
It comes just weeks after the Magpies' newly-appointed director of football Joe Kinnear struggled to pronounce the names of some of the club's foreign players during a radio interview - including famously mangling Yohan Cabaye's surname as "Cabab."
It is also believed Kinnear was brought in to build a bridge between Pardew and scout Graham Carr, who has made his name by raiding the French market.
Newcastle are now determined to keep the dressing room harmonious, happy and balanced, with Pardew and Kinnear believed to be keen on more English players.
McCarthy, 23, was called up to the England squad last season after a string of brilliant performances as the club slid towards relegation from the top flight.
Several other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, have scouted McCarthy and Newcastle - also linked with PSV Eindhoven keeper Jeroen Zoet - are keen to bring him in to challenge Tim Krul, who missed much of last season through injury.
Reading will be keen to keep hot property McCarthy, but face a major battle this summer.
Former Chelsea winger Sinclair is also a target, and his Manchester City future looks uncertain after managing only 14 appearances last term following a summer move from Swansea.
The 24-year-old - who has been linked with Aston Villa and Midlands neighbours West Brom - may be given a fresh start at City under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, but a move to Newcastle is likely to bring him more regular football.
