Antonio Valencia ditches famous Manchester United no.7 shirt

The weight of expectation has literally proved too much to carry for Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia, who has chosen to ditch the club’s famous no.7 shirt for the new season.The Ecuadorian, signed from Wigan for ￡16million in 2009, wore the no.25 in his acclaimed debut season at Old Trafford but switched to the shirt made famous by the likes of David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo the following year.

However, after his form last season nosedived, Valencia has decided to revert back to his original no.25, prompting speculation the no.7 is being kept vacant for a special signing…
