Manchester United make late move for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda

Manchester United are considering a late move for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda with David Moyes still looking to add to his squad.
Moyes has so far only managed to bring in Uruguayan youngster Guillermo Varela, despite admitting earlier in the summer that he wanted a number of new signings.

However, United are ready to ramp up their transfer activity before Monday’s transfer deadline, and centre back Miranda is a target.
The 28-year-old has been linked with Chelsea and Inter Milan in recent months, but Moyes has jumped the queue and is considering an offer.
According to reports in Spain, Atletico will part with the player for around ￡6million, and United are happy with that price.

Miranda would add cover to the centre of United’s defence while his ability to play right back and in midfield means he could provide cover in other areas.
If a deal can be done, United hope that Miranda would join the Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines in moving to Old Trafford in late deals,
although a ￡36million bid for the duo was rejected this week, with Everton insisting that they will stay.
