Borini makes deadline-day move

Forward joins on loan from Liverpool.

Sunderland have completed a deadline-day deal with the signing of Fabio Borini from Liverpool.
The 22-year-old Italian forward has joined on a season-long loan from the Anfield club and is the club’s 12th arrival of the summer.
Borini moved to England as a teenager after being snapped up by Chelsea from childhood club Bologna.
He made eight appearances for the Blues and joined Swansea City on loan in March 2011, turning in a string of impressive performances to help the club
win promotion to the Barclays Premier League.A total of nine league appearances yielded a return of six goals, while he featured in all three of the Swans’ play-off games,
including the final.Borini then returned to Italy with Parma and then Roma, where he fired 10 goals in 26 appearances.

His impressive progress in the Italian capital prompted a move to Liverpool, where Borini became Brendan Rodgers’ first signing
having previously played for the Anfield boss at Swansea.After joining in July 2012, he made 20 appearances for the Reds and featured against Sunderland
in a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.Borini featured regularly for Italy at youth level and has been capped 18 times for
the under-21 side, including two goals in three games as the Italians reached the final of the U21 European Championships.
The striker was also named in the senior squad for Euro 2012 and has one full cap to his name.
