VINCENT KOMPANY could be sidelined until October and miss this month's crunch Manchester derby.




The Manchester City captain, 27, has been battling a groin injury that has seen him miss the start of the season.
He was hoping to be back after the international break to hand boss Manuel Pellegrini a boost.

But the Belgium defender has suffered a setback in his recovery and is expected to be out even longer.
It means he is almost certain to miss the visit of champions Manchester United on September 22.
The centre-back will now target City's home clash with Everton on October 5 for his league return.The news is another blow to Pellegrini,
who has been without his influential star since he limped out of the 4-0 win over Newcastle during the first game of the season.
Pellegrini signed Martin Demichelis from Atletico Madrid for almost £4m as cover but the Argentina star is crocked without even playing.
Demichelis, 32, damaged knee ligaments in one of his first training sessions and has been ruled out for six weeks.
