Xabi Alonso signed his contract extension with the Whites in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, where he was joined by president Florentino Perez.
The midfielder, who renews his commitment to the club for the next two seasons, received a watch and a shirt with 2016,
the year his new contract will end, on the back.

After 204 official matches with the Whites the midfielder renews his commitment to the club for the next two seasons

Xabi Alonso will continue to call Real Madrid home until 2016.
The midfielder signed with the club in the 2009/10 season and has been a key playmaker for the team ever since.
In his fifth season with the club, Alonso has played in a total of 204 matches and has won a Liga, a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup with the Whites.  

With the contract renewal Real Madrid ensures that one of the team’s essential players continues with the club for the next two seasons.  
Undisputed leader for every coach he has worked under, Xabi Alonso has averaged more than 40 matches in each of the past four seasons
and has scored six official goals for Real Madrid.

Xabi Alonso was born in Tolosa (Gipuzcoa) on 25 November 1981 and made his 1st Division debut in the ranks of Real Sociedad.
The Spanish international signed with Real Madrid after a stint with Liverpool and debuted with the Whites on 29 August 2009 against Deportivo de la Coruna.
He scored his first goal for Real Madrid on 21 February 2010 in a home match against Villarreal.
