Contract news: France midfielder Paul Pogba signs new improved deal at Juventus



Paul Pogba has signed a new improved contract with Juventus which will keep him with the Serie A giants until June 2019 - and will reportedly triple his wages.

The France international's previous deal was due to expire in 2016.

Juve had been keen to tie the 21-year-old central midfielder down as he has become the target of several top European clubs,

with Chelsea and his former employers Manchester United reportedly keen to strike deals.

"We have just signed Paul Pogba's renewal until 2019," Juve club administrator Giuseppe Marotta said during Juve's shareholders meeting in Turin on Friday.

Pogba, who was named the young player of the tournament at the World Cup in Brazil in the summer, moved to Turin two years ago on a free transfer from United.

He has formed a solid partnership with Italian veteran Andrea Pirlo, which has contributed to Juve's back-to-back Serie A titles.

The new deal will reportedly see Pogba's existing £23,000-a-week wages trebled.

Marotta announced earlier his month that Juve had turned down several lucrative offers for Pogba in the summer.

Transfer news: Juventus in talks with midfielder Paul Pogba over a new contract

Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that the club are in contract talks with midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba has a further two years remaining on his current deal with the Serie A champions, but his future has been the subject of much speculation in recent transfer windows.

Both PSG and Chelsea have been among the clubs linked with a move for the 21-year-old, while Arsenal and former club Manchester United have also been reported to be admirers.

However, Marotta is now hopeful of tying up a new deal for Pogba, who has quickly established himself as one of the game’s brightest prospects since joining from from Old Trafford in 2012.

He said: "With Pogba and his agent we started a negotiation and I am optimistic that there may be an agreement soon."

Marotta also says Juventus have tabled an offer for veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, 36, to extend his stay, while defender Giorgio Chiellini is close to a new deal.

"The Buffon contract is ready. It is up to him to decide when to come and sign and decide when to stop playing football," he said.

"Chiellini’s contract is in the home stretch."

Serie A: Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba set for contract talks



Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba says he will meet with club officials to discuss the possibility of a new contract.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Paris St Germain

while former club Manchester United, who let him go in 2012, were reportedly interested in re-signing the 21-year-old.

Despite reports suggesting that Pogba could leave Juventus, the club’s chief executive Beppe Marotta revealed that they were set to meet the player’s agent regarding a new deal.

Following Marotta’s claims in August, Pogba has now revealed that he will meet with the club in the coming weeks.

He told French TV channel TF1: “We are negotiating the renewal. Soon, I will meet the club officials.”

Italian reports say that the Frenchman is set to sign a deal that will keep him at the club until 2019.
