Transfer News: Manchester United defender Patrice Evra completes move to Juventus



Patrice Evra has completed his move from Manchester United to Juventus, both clubs have confirmed.

The 33-year-old left-back has signed for the Bianconeri on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £1.5millon.

Evra, a France international who has played over 300 times for United, was given permission to leave Old Trafford

following the signing of England international Luke Shaw from Southampton, despite having only signed a new one-year contract in May.

The defender was one of only a handful of names that did not travel with the squad on their pre-season tour of the USA.

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is expected to complete a move to Italian champions Juventus by the end of Thursday, according to Sky sources.

The 33-year-old has been at Old Trafford since January 2006, when he was signed from Monaco for £5million.

Despite growing speculation about his future throughout last season, Evra signed a one-year contract with United in May.

The Senegalise-born defender has won the Premier League five times with United, and was part of the team that won the Champions League in 2008.

Evra played in four of France’s five matches at the World Cup, as the team reached the last eight of the competition before losing 1-0 to finalists Germany.

Juventus are pressing ahead in their £2million bid to sign Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra.
It is understood the France captain's wife is keen to move but new United manager Louis van Gaal wants the 33-year-old to stay.
The Italian champions will offer Evra a two-year deal worth £55,000-a-week after tax.

Louis van Gaal is well aware of Evra’s popularity within Old Trafford but accepts that the player also wants to play.
The arrival of Luke Shaw means he will be marginalised compared to his previous seasons at United
so they are considering the option of another left-back with Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez a candidate.
Liverpool have also considered Rodriguez but Wolfsburg want around £15m for the Swiss international who impressed against Argentina and Lionel Messi in the World Cup.
United remain keen on Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal but the Turin-based club want £37m for their Chile star.
Van Gaal is believed to be keen to sign the Chilean, who represented his country at the World Cup in Brazil.
United have made tentative enquiries as to Vidal's availability but they are currently miles away from Juve's valuation.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus will finally announce the signing of Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra on a two-year contract tomorrow.
New Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri has spoken to Evra regarding the move, which had been agreed prior to Antonio Conte's shock resignation,
