QPR close in on West Ham midfielder Diame QPR are closing in on West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame, Goal has learned. The newly promoted Hoops are
ready to meet the Senegalese midfielder’s £3.5 million release clause as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.
Diame has impressed for the Hammers since joining on a free transfer from Wigan in 2012, making 68 Premier League appearances and scoring seven goals.
The 27-year-old, however, has agitated for a move away from Upton Park in the past, saying it would be a "dream come true" to join a top-six club.
Though Diame has attracted reported interest from the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool in the past,
he will have to settle for a move to a club who spent the previous campaign in the Championship.
West Ham could be prepared to cash in on a player who has just one year left on his current contract, and are already well stocked in midfield having signed Cheikhou Kouyate this summer.
Diame would become QPR’s fifth signing of the summer, with the R's moving swiftly to secure deals for Rio Ferdinand, Steven Caulker, Jordon Mutch and Mauricio Isla.
