Vergini back on Wearside. 
Sunderland AFC has completed the signing Argentinian defender Santiago Vergini on loan.
The 26-year old centre-back returns to the Stadium of Light for the season, after a previous loan spell which commenced in January.Vergini returned to Argentina at the end of Sunderland’s 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season, where he worked with the national side ahead of their FIFA World Cup preparations.
The centre-back began his career in Paraguay with Olimpia before playing in Europe with Italian club Verona in 2011.
After a spell with Newell’s Old Boys, Vergini joined Estudiantes in 2013. He won his first cap for the Argentina national team in 2012.
Speaking about his return, Vergini said: “Firstly I'm very thankful to the club for giving me this opportunity.
I am very happy to be here once again. I'm also very happy to see so many recognisable faces.
“The challenge for me is to become part of this team, and offer all I can so we have a good season.
The feeling that I've had here at this club has been very good. It’s a big club.”
Vergini becomes Sunderland’s sixth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Jack Rodwell and Costel Pantilimon from Champions Manchester City,
along with Jordi Gomez, Billy Jones and Dutch international Patrick van Aanholt.
