Rossi suffered the injury in training this week.
"Fiorentina announces that Giuseppe Rossi was today submitted for
surgery on his right knee in Colorado," the Serie A club said in a statement
"Examinations showed a good stability to the cruciate ligament previously operated on.

The 27-year-old Italian international was ruled out of the World Cup after suffering strained ligaments in January but suffered a recurrence of the injury this week.
A routine examination showed evidence of further damage and the former Manchester United striker was sent to see the specialist knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado,
who has ruled he must spend more time on the sidelines.
“The athlete will be monitored in Vail this week,” read a statement on the Fiorentina website.
“At the end of the activity will begin physical therapy in New York, which will continue in Florence.
Resumption of sports activity will be dictated by the specialist, which is estimated at around four to five months.”
