Alessandro Diamanti will undergo medical tests with Fiorentina, pending an official announcement of his transfer as early as today.

La Viola were said to have finalised the deal for the Guangzhou Evergrande winger earlier this week, with the player not going back to join his team in China.

Today's edition of La Nazione reiterates those reports and that only a few documents are now needed from China to complete the paperwork on the deal.

It is also reported that should the medical exams be positive, the former Bologna player may be available as early as Week 19.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the deal may be made official in the next 24 hours.

Today new contacts were taken between the Chinese club and the Viola and it is believed that an agreement will be reached soon.

Diamanti: 'Fiorentina enthusiasm'

Alessandro Diamanti has officially joined Fiorentina from Guangzhou Evergrande. “I come here with great enthusiasm.”

The player had been training with his new teammates yesterday, but the move on loan with option to buy was only finalised today.

“I am in good shape and very fired up. I’m happy with this new challenge and can’t wait to get started,” Alino Diamanti told the official Fiorentina website.

“It was a wonderful experience in China and a fantastic year spent in a country with a very different culture. I was very happy.”

His teammate at Guangzhou was Alberto Gilardino, who played for Fiorentina.

“Gila talked to me about Fiorentina, but fortunately I lived near here so I was always fully aware of the club and its environment. Gila is very happy for me.

“I am even prouder to be wearing this jersey, seeing as I am from Tuscany.

I think messages need to be sent out on the field, as talk is cheap. I come here with great enthusiasm and hope this can be the start of a wonderful new adventure.

“Physically I am at 100 per cent, though clearly I’ll get match fitness by training and playing.”
