Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah is demanding a pay rise to stay at Fiorentina next season.

Fiorentina have informed Chelsea that they intend to take up the £700,000 option to sign Salah on loan again after the Egyptian spent a successful six months in Italy last season.

But the final decision rests with Salah and, in talks this week, it is understood his representatives informed Fiorentina that he would require an increase in his salary to stay put.

Salah wants a yearly wage of just over £2million to stay at Fiorentina, which would represent a significant increase to what the Italian club were paying him last season.

It would also make Salah Fiorentina’s second-highest paid player behind Mario Gomez.

Salah is aware he could earn around £1.78m by joining Inter Milan, who will make a move to sign the 23-year-old either on loan or permanently if he rejects Fiorentina.

Mohamed Salah is expected to decide in the next 24 hours whether to join Fiorentina from Chelsea, according to Sky sources.

The Italian side have offered the Egyptian winger a £40,000-a-week deal plus a bonys if £2m.

Fiorentina, where Salah spent last season on loan, have an option to extend the loan spell or buy him for £11m.

Sky sources say Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in the midfielder.

Salah scored six goals in 16 Serie A appearances last season to help the Viola qualify for the Europa League.

He made only eight appearances for Chelsea last season before being loaned out in January.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues in January 2014 for £11m from Swiss side FC Basel.

Salah fails to respond to Fiorentina by the deadline: the club’s stance

Fiorentina continues to wait for Salah.
The Tuscan club had already paid Chelsea the ?1 million fee to extend the loan, they had recently made Salah a big offer to raise his wages but the Egyptian winger failed to respond to them by the 8pm deadline. Fiorentina will now issue a statement to announce that since Salah failed to respond to their offer,
they will consider his previous contract tied to the extension of the loan to be valid, they will expect him to report to the team's retreat.

Fiorentina could take legal action against Salah: the club’s statement

Fiorentina is taking a tough stance after Mohamed Salah turned down their offer on a new contract, last night the Egyptian player's agent indicated his client would play for an other Italian team.
This morning the Tuscan club issued a statement to make their stance public:
"Regarding the recent developments with athlete Mohamed Salah, ACF Fiorentina to ensure there is the maximum amount of transparency with their fans would like to point out the following.
The player, through his agent, refused the offer to improve his contract and went as far as manifesting the intention to transfer to another club and not respond to the selection that was sent to him.
Considering the situation we asked our legal team to look into the actions needed to defend the club's rights"
