West Ham trying to sign Arsenal's Carl Jenkinson and Juventus' Angelo Ogbonna



West Ham co-chairman David Gold has confirmed the club are "working hard" to sign Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson.

And Sky Italia sources understand the Hammers are also attempting to sign Italy international centre-back Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus.

Jenkinson, who has found his first-team chances at Arsenal blocked by Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin, spent last season on loan at West Ham.

The 23-year-old made 29 Premier League starts for them.Ogbonna, meanwhile, has been third choice behind Stefan Lichsteiner and Giorgio Chiellini at the Old Lady. The 27-year-old has won 10 caps for the Azzurri, having made his international debut in 2011.

Hammers chairman Gold has previously stated the club are keen to bring in players to play the "West Ham way" and on Thursday he said: "We are very working hard to try and get Carl back here



"We recognise this is an important season for us, being in Europe, and we will go the extra mile to ensure we have got the strongest possible squad we can muster."

Sky sources understand another player West Ham are interested in is the wantaway Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Yohan Cabaye.

The 29-year-old former Newcastle midfielder has struggled to hold down a first-team place at the French champions but it is understood former Toon boss Alan Pardew is interested in taking Cabaye to Crystal Palace.

JUVE DEFENDER AGREES HAMMERS DEAL

The Guardian are reporting that Juventus centre-back Angelo Ogbonna has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with West Ham, rather than Everton, with the Italy international due to have his Hammers medical next week.

Carl Jenkinson signed a new five year deal with Arsenal - and was then immediately loaned out to West Ham United.

England under-21 right back Jenkinson impressed while on loan at Upton Park last season and West Ham beat off competition from Southampton and Sunderland.

Jenkinson will go to West Ham on another season long loan after the Hammers agreed to pay a big loan fee of around £2million.

But the new deal at Arsenal also means that he could yet be part of Arsene Wenger's long term plans as the Gunners boss refused to let him go permanently.

Mathieu Debuchy and Hector Bellerin are competing for Arsenal's right back slot but another strong season from Jenkinson could see him return to the Emirates.

Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson has agreed to rejoin West Ham United in another loan deal, according to Sky sources.

While Jenkinson has signed a one-year deal at Upton Park, there are also unconfirmed reports he has secured a new five-year contract at Arsenal.

West Ham co-chairman David Gold revealed on July 2 the club were "working hard" to sign the Gunners defender.

But on Monday night, Sky sources reported the Hammers had got their man, albeit on a season-long contract.

Jenkinson found his first-team chances at Arsenal blocked by Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin and spent last season on loan at the Hammers.

The 23-year-old made 29 Premier League starts for them.

Gold had previously stated the club were keen to bring in players to play the "West Ham way" and last week stated: "We are very working hard to try and get Carl back here.

"We recognise this is an important season for us, being in Europe, and we will go the extra mile to ensure we have got the strongest possible squad we can muster."

Mathieu Debuchy and Bellerin will be fighting for the right-back position in Arsene Wenger's team and another impressive campaign could see Jenkinson return to the Emirates.

JENKINSON RETURNS TO WEST HAM ON LOAN

Carl Jenkinson has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal and re-joined West Ham United on loan for the 2015/16 season.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a successful campaign with the Hammers last term, making 32 league appearances as he helped the club to qualify for the Europa League.
A full England international, Jenkinson represented the Three Lions in the Under-21 European Championship in the Czech Republic this summer.
He has made 57 appearances for Arsenal since arriving from Charlton Athletic in June 2011.
Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Carl on his new contract and wish him the best for the upcoming season with West Ham.
The contract is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
