Tottenham submit £13.1m offer for Axel Witsel Last Updated: 31/08/15 2:09pm
Tottenham have made an ?18m bid for Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel, according to Sky Sports in Italy. According to reports, Witsel is also wanted by AC Milan, but, unlike Spurs, the Serie A club are only prepared to take him on loan.
Witsel joined Zenit from Benfica in 2012 and has impressed scoring 15 goals in 105 appearances. The 26-year-old has also been capped 57 times by Belgium, netting six times on the international stage.
Zenit, currently managed by former Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, have nine foreign players in their squad, a number in direct contravention of Russian Premier League rules.
The Russian FA allows clubs involved in their domestic competition a quota of just six non-domestic players in their squad – a rule which all clubs must abide to.
