Valencia: Nuno Espirito Santo resigns as coach at Spanish club



Nuno Espirito Santo has resigned as coach of Valencia, the Spanish club where former Manchester United defender Phil Neville is assistant manager.
The 41-year-old Portuguese leaves after just over one season in charge.
Speaking in a news conference following his team's 1-0 defeat by Sevilla, Nuno said he had told club owner Peter Lim of his decision before Sunday's game.
Valencia finished fourth in La Liga last year but have struggled this term, winning five out of 13 games.
"I have spoken with the owner, the president and we are all agreed that Valencia is a project for the present and the future and I don't want that to stop," Nuno said.
"I want Valencia to return to being one of the biggest clubs in Europe."
Los Che are yet to announce who will be taking temporary charge.



The club qualified for the group stages of this year's Champions League by beating Monaco in a play-off but are close to elimination.
They will only progress to the knockout stage if they beat Lyon at home and Gent fail to beat leaders Zenit St Petersburg in the final round of Group H fixtures on on Wednesday, 9 December.
Singaporean owner Lim has a stake in Salford City, the non-league club co-owned by Neville with his former Manchester United team-mates Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes.

外界估計，若華倫在1周內都未能公佈新帥人選，菲臘尼維利不但會在國王盃帶隊，周六迎戰「一哥」巴塞隆拿的西甲賽事，亦會由他和安歷基在場邊鬥法。這位前曼聯名宿，來到球隊後一直深受球員及班主愛戴，若領軍時表現對辦，甚至有可能一直教到季尾，皆因林福榮屬意葡萄牙人保亞斯，但後者要在約滿辛尼特後才能過檔。

華倫西亞今季戰績麻麻，一直處於聯賽榜第7至第10位，爭奪前4的前景不甚樂觀，而周六負西維爾，已是他們今季各條戰線19場比賽的第8場敗仗。

Valencia: Phil Neville takes temporary charge of La Liga side



Former Manchester United and England defender Phil Neville has taken charge of training at Valencia following the resignation of Nuno Espirito Santo.
Nuno announced on Sunday he was leaving after just over one season in charge.
Neville joined Valencia as assistant manager in July, having previously been first-team coach at Manchester United.
The former Everton captain, 38, took training along with coach Voro ahead of Valencia's Copa del Rey last-32 tie at Barakaldo on Wednesday.
Valencia's next La Liga match is at home to champions Barcelona on Saturday.
Nuno announced his departure following Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Sevilla which left Valencia ninth in La Liga.
The 41-year-old leaves with Valencia third in Group H of the Champions League, still with a chance of progressing to the knockout stage. However, the Portuguese said expectations had not been met.
"We are all in agreement that the current situation is not good, and that we must all do what is best for the club," he said. "This has always been my intention."
