Vicente del Bosque plans to leave Spain after Euro 2016By AFP Sport
Spain manager Vicente del Bosque says he plans to step down from the post after Euro 2016 in France, according to extracts from his new book which were published on Friday.Del Bosque, who took over from the late Luis Aragones after Spain's triumph at Euro 2008, is a hugely popular figure in Spain after leading the national team to a maiden World Cup victory in 2010 and a second consecutive European Championship two years later.Though some felt a fresh start was needed after Spain's failure to advance beyond the group stage at last year's World Cup finals in Brazil, Del Bosque plans to leave in the summer of 2016.
"If everything goes as expected, after Euro 2016 I will leave the national team and the Spanish football federation. It is also a question of health," he writes in the book 'Winning and Losing: Emotional Strength'.
"I will have been the national team coach for eight years and I do not intend to cling to the post," he adds, according to the extracts published on Marca.
Spain could become the most successful side in European Championship history if they can win the title for a third consecutive time, and fourth overall, in France next year.
