Riyad Mahrez is "50-50" to leave champions Leicester this summer, according to his agent.

The Algeria winger was named PFA Player of the Year earlier this month and now has a Premier League winners' medal to add to his haul after the Foxes' title win was confirmed on Monday.

The club's wealthy owners say they have no plans to cash in on any of their stars during the close season, but Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has predicted Mahrez will be a big-name departure.

And now agent Kamel Bengougam has admitted he and Mahrez are duty-bound to consider offers from elsewhere in England and abroad.

"Of course there is a possibility [he will leave]," said Bengougam in the Guardian. "When you have been playing the way Riyad has this season it is bound to attract attention.

"He is very happy with Leicester and of course it has been a fantastic season. They will play in the Champions League next year as well so he would be happy to stay.

"But at his age, if the opportunity comes to play for a big team then we would have to think about it. I'd say it's 50/50 at the moment whether he stays or goes.

"We have interest from the UK and overseas. We will have to see what develops over the next few weeks."

Riyad Mahrez is leaning towards leaving Leicester even though the club have offered the PFA Player of the Year a massive new contract.
Mahrez has been the subject of interest from top sides at home and abroad — including Arsenal — and doubts over the future of team-mates Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kante are making him mull over whether to ask for a transfer.
Sources indicate a move is on the agenda while confirming discussions over fresh terms have taken place.

Mahrez signed a contract through to 2019 last summer worth around £40,000 a week and Sportsmail reported in February that the Algeria star would be prioritised for an upgrade to six figures once the season ended.
But with Vardy in the process of making up his mind over Arsenal's £20million approach and Kante attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea for a similar fee, Mahrez may prefer to leave, too.
Arsenal have an interest in Mahrez but are thought to favour a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan while Chelsea are also looking at Kante.

Leicester received positive news about Kasper Schmeichel however, with the 29-year-old keeper close to signing a five-year contract worth £65,000 per week.
It is thought the Danish goalkeeper is prepared to commit to a new long-term deal in a huge boost for the club given how he performed during the title-winning campaign.
Leicester's owners are doing everything they can to keep the squad together and the club's recruitment team are busy working on bringing in signings. Two targets include CSKA Moscow's Ahmed Musa and Sporting Lisbon's Islam Slimani.

Riyad Mahrez is set to reject Leicester City’s offer of a new contract after the Algeria forward decided he wants to pursue a new challenge away from the Premier League champions.

Mahrez, who joined Leicester in 2014 from the French side Le Havre for £375,000, has attracted widespread attention from clubs in England and overseas after his performances in their title-winning season.

The PFA Player of the Year still has three years to run of the contract he signed last August, in a deal which is believed to be worth £35,000 a week.

However, having held talks with Leicester over a new deal believed to be worth in the region of £80,000 a week, Mahrez is understood to be unwilling to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium and has instructed his representatives to find him a new club this summer.

“He remains with us. He’s not the kind of man who will say: ‘Coach I want to leave.’ He is happy here,” said Ranieri at the club’s training camp in Austria.

The newspaper France Football stated that Mahrez has a desire to join a big European club, with Barcelona among the clubs to have been linked with him in the past.

In May Mahrez’s agent told the Guardian there was a possibility his client could leave the club after contributing 28 goals and assists in Leicester’s remarkable title-winning season.

“When you have been playing the way Riyad has this season it is bound to attract attention,” said Kamel Bengougam. “He is very happy with Leicester and of course it has been a fantastic season. They will play in the Champions League next year as well, so he would be happy to stay.

“But at his age, if the opportunity comes to play for a big team, then we would have to think about it. I’d say it’s 50/50 at the moment whether he stays or goes.”

The news will come as a blow to Claudio Ranieri’s side, with the France midfielder N’Golo Kanté set to join Chelsea after a fee was agreed on Friday. The Italian had been optimistic about Mahrez’s future 24 hours earlier saying that he was confident the midfielder would stay at Leicester.
