Sami Khedira set to miss rest of Euro 2016 with groin injury Last Updated: 03/07/16 3:38pm
Germany look set to be without influential midfielder Sami Khedira for the remainder of their Euro 2016 campaign because of a groin injury. The 29-year-old limped out of Saturday's quarter-final win over Italy on penalties after just 15 minutes to be replaced by captain Bastian Schweinsteiger.According to German football magazine Kicker, the Juventus midfielder suffered "at least a partial tear in the adductor of his left thigh." Khedira will undergo a scan later on Sunday to diagnose the full extent of the injury and if Germany do make it to the final, it will be the second in a row he has missed having been forced out of the World Cup final triumph in 2014 due to a calf problem.
The news comes as a huge blow to Joachim Low's men ahead of a semi-final showdown with hosts France or surprise package Iceland on Thursday.
The world champions are already without defender Mats Hummels for the match in Marseille after he picked up his second yellow card of the tournament against the Italians.
