Younes Kaboul set for Watford as Sunderland accept bid Last Updated: 18/08/16 10:43pm
Sunderland have accepted Watford's bid for Younes Kaboul after the centre-half asked to leave the club. Kaboul has been given permission to talk personal terms with Walter Mazzari's side after telling David Moyes he wanted to end his year-long stay on Wearside. A statement on the Sunderland website announced an agreement between the two clubs. And Kaboul said: "This is not an easy situation for me, but the club and the manager have shown an understanding of my personal circumstances and I am grateful for that.
"The Sunderland fans have supported me fantastically well since I came to the club, they gave me my passion back and I sincerely thank them for that.
"I hope they understand that I have made this incredibly difficult decision for me."
Kaboul joined Sunderland from Tottenham last summer and started 23 Premier League games last season.
