Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson joins Walter Zenga’s Wolves on loan Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan, The National understands. The Mancunian, who made his United debut last November and played in 14 first-team games under Louis van Gaal, was told that he would be allowed to go on loan by new manager Jose Mourinho. He remains part of Mourinho’s long term plans.Borthwick-Jackson, 19, received his chance because of injuries to Louis Van Gaal’s squad and while he usually played as a left-back, his preferred position is central defender.
He performed well for United and is considered to have a bright future, but his chances would have been limited this season with Luke Shaw back from injury and United having signed another central defender in Eric Bailly.
Borthwick-Jackson is expected to be in contention to make his debut for the Championship side on Tuesday against Cambridge United in the League Cup at Molineux.
Wolves, who finished 14th in England’s second tier last season, have started this season strongly with two wins and two draws from their opening four league games.
The West Midlands club are under new Chinese ownership and have appointed the Italian Walter Zenga as their new manager.
Their technical director is Zenga’s compatriot Andrea Butti, who knows Mourinho from his time at Inter Milan
