Sunderland sign striker Victor Anichebe on deal until the end of the season By James Dale

Victor Anichebe has signed for Sunderland until the end of the season after leaving West Bromwich Albion. Sunderland boss David Moyes managed Anichebe during his time in charge of Everton, and has completed a deal to take the free agent to the Stadium of Light for the remainder of the campaign.
Anichebe left West Brom in the summer after he was not offered a new deal under Tony Pulis. The 28-year-old spent three years at The Hawthorns, scoring nine goals in 63 appearances for the Midlands club. Sunderland forward Fabio Borini was ruled out for three months with a groin injury on Wednesday, while Jeremain Lens joined Fenerbahce on loan for the season, and Anichebe will add further options for Moyes alongside strikers Jermain Defoe and Duncan Watmore. "I'm really happy to be here at a great club," Anichebe told Sunderland's official website.
"I have a lot of good friends here and everyone knows that I know the manager really well. He brought me through as a young player and was a big factor in me coming here.
"I had a few options in England and Europe but the manager was a huge pull for me. He knows me inside out and I feel like he can get the best out of me."
