Manchester City confident of completing short-term deal for Bayern Munich defender Holger BadstuberGuardiola wants to sign the German defender on a six-month loan deal to address the defensive deficiencies undermining his side’s title challenge
Pep Guardiola is hopeful of landing Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber on a six-month loan deal. The Manchester City boss wants to make the short term swoop to address the defensive deficiencies undermining his side’s title challenge.
Guardiola is also keen on the move with Southampton insistent they have no intention of selling their star defender Virgil van Dijk this month.
Guardiola knows 27-year-old Badstuber from his three-year spell with the German champions.
Although the versatile centre-back’s appearances were restricted because of injury he is able to play in a back four as well as a back three.
Badstuber is also strong in the air and has a good passing range.
City have kept just three clean sheets in their last 22 games in all competitions
With four defeats they have so far lost the most games in the top six, conceding 22 goals.
