Antonio Conte reveals he's considering recalling Chelsea's Nathan Ake from Bournemouth loan spell Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is considering recalling Nathan Ake from his season-long loan spell at Bournemouth. Ake moved to the Vitality Stadium in the summer and has since scored three goals in eight starts for Eddie Howe's men.
Chelsea have the option to recall the 21-year-old from his loan stint prematurely and Howe said in December he hoped the Blues would not activate the clause.
"We would hope the fact he's playing and playing well would mean he'd stay," said the Cherries boss.
But Conte has been monitoring Ake's performances on the south coast and suggested Ake could now return to Stamford Bridge this month.
“Ake is a really good player and now in the last five games he's started to play with Bournemouth and is playing every game,” Conte said. “Honestly, I'm evaluating his situation, because Ake could be an interesting opportunity in this window, yes, for us.” Conte says Chelsea are still looking to buy in the difficult winter transfer market, but are "not close" to recruiting anyone.
And he ruled out the need to sign another central defender, with Kurt Zouma available again following a long-term knee injury.
