Leicester City have offered £16.5million for Hull City defender Harry Maguire.

Sportsmail reported on Monday how the former Premier League champions had identified the 24-year-old, who is valued at £20million, as a summer target.

However, Hull are ready to accept Leicester's offer and Maguire is willing to discuss terms with the former Premier League champions. Tottenham and Newcastle have also shown interest though Maguire is keen to play regularly.

Hull also have offers on the table for Andrew Robertson while Josh Tymon is a target for Stoke City.

New manager Leonid Slutsky is keen on taking Tomas Kalas on loan from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old Czech Republic international spent last season on loan at Fulham.

Burnley have also revived their interest in Hull defender Andrew Robertson after having a bid rejected in January.

Manager Sean Dyche has also made enquiries for George Friend at Middlesbrough.

Harry Maguire: Leicester City to sign Hull City defender in £17m deal

Leicester City are expected to announce the signing of Hull City defender Harry Maguire in a £17m deal.

BBC Radio Humberside understands an initial £12m fee with add-ons has been agreed, as have personal terms, and a medical has been completed.

Maguire, 24, scored three goals in 36 appearances as Hull were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The centre-back, who joined the Tigers for £2.5m from Sheffield United in 2014, had a year left on his contract.

Harry Maguire: Leicester City sign Hull City defender in £17m deal

Leicester City have signed Hull City defender Harry Maguire in a £17m deal.

The 24-year-old has agreed a five-year deal and will link up with his new team-mates in early July before their pre-season training camp in Austria.

Maguire told the Foxes' website: "There were a number of clubs interested, but when I met the manager here, he pretty much swayed it into the direction of this club.

"Leicester are on the up and it looks very promising for the future."

BBC Radio Humberside understands the deal comprises an initial £12m fee with add-ons.

Maguire's former club Sheffield United will also profit as they agreed a sell-on clause with Hull in 2014 - thought to be 10% of any fee over the £3m they received for the defender from the Tigers.

Analysis

BBC Radio Leicester's Ian Stringer:

The Foxes are in urgent need of reinforcements in the heart of their defence. Captain Wes Morgan and Robert Huth have been brilliant, clearly playing through pain at times, but they need support.

Maguire ticks plenty of boxes. He has Premier League experience, plays plenty of games and does not seem to suffer injury too regularly.

It's a big summer for new boss Craig Shakespeare and this seems a very sensible start.
